About the Speakers:
ROY D. STEINBERG, PhD
ROY D. STEINBERG, PhD, is a geriatric psychologist in New Jersey where he maintains a private practice devoted exclusively to serving older adults and their caregivers. He is highly sought out for his expertise in diagnosing and facilitating treatment of individuals with Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia. Dr. Steinberg received his PhD from the California School of Professional Psychology at Berkeley and is licensed in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York, and California. He provides evaluation, consultation, and psychotherapeutic services to older adults in nursing homes, assisted living, and medical facilities. Dr. Steinberg provides outpatient consultation, educational, and counseling services to families and other caregivers of older adults to facilitate coping with the process of dementia.
Dr. Steinberg is the author of the book, Forgetting The Memories: A Caregiver's Journey Through Alzheimer's Disease (2009). He has been featured in numerous media venues, including television, radio, and print, and is a nationally recognized speaker for professionals and laypersons, focusing on the assessment and treatment of individuals with Alzheimer's disease, and increasing the attention on caring for the caregivers.

Peter R. Johnson, PhD, CCC-SLP, is the Speech Mentor with Select Medical where he develops new clinical programs, conducts continuing education seminars for Select Medical (including cognitive programming), provides small group and one-on-one mentoring nationally, and maintains the clinic hotline for the company. His previous experience includes working in acute care, home care, outpatient clinics and long-term care. Dr. Johnson received his MS and PhD in speech-language pathology from the University of Pittsburgh and an Executive Graduate Degree in Healthcare Financial Management from Ohio State University. He has co-authored several books including Business Matters: A Guide for the Speech-Language Pathologist; Drugs and Dysphagia; and Practical Pharmacology in Rehabilitation: Effect of Medication on Therapy. Dr. Johnson is currently completing a book on cognition to be published in 2015.
Dr. Johnson served as a column editor for the American Speech-Language Hearing Association Special Interest Division 11 and Special Interest Division 13; on the Executive Board of the Florida Association of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology for eight years; and was a three-time recipient of the President’s Award as well as the Outstanding Service Award from the Florida Association of Speech- Language Pathology and Audiology. He is currently vice-chair for the Florida Department of Health/ Board of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology.

JOHN ARDEN, PhD
John Arden, Ph.D., is the author of 13 books including The Brain Bible (McGraw-Hill 2014) and Rewire Your Brain (Wiley 2010). Dr. Arden is lead author along with Lloyd Linford of the books Brain-Based Therapy with Adults and Brain-Based Therapy with Children and Adolescents. His first book, Consciousness, Dreams, and Self, was awarded the 1997 Outstanding Academic Book Award by Choice, a publication of the American Library Association. An international panel of jurists nominated his second book, Science, Theology, and Consciousness, for the CTS award funded by the Templeton Foundation. His book America’s Meltdowns: Creating the Lowest Common Denominator Society explored the degradation of the fabric of American society.
His eight self-help books are Surviving Job Stress, Improving Your Memory for Dummies, Stop Spoiling that Man, Conquering Posttraumatic Stress (with Dr. Victoria Beckner), Heal Your Anxiety Workbook and Heal Your OCD Workbook (with Dr. Daniel DalCorso), Rewire Your Brain (Wiley 2010) and Brain-Based Therapy for Anxiety (PPM 2014).
Dr. Arden has a background in neuropsychology and is the director of training for mental health for the Kaiser Permanente Medical Centers in Northern California. In this capacity, he oversees one of the largest mental health training programs in the world, operating in 22 different medical centers throughout Northern California. He also practices part-time at Kaiser Permanente in Petaluma and San Rafael, and he served for several years as the chief psychologist at Kaiser Vallejo. He has taught in colleges, professional schools and universities.
