Description

Rather than a strictly educational format (presenter gives info to participants), this session will allow for open discussion and collaboration within our professions, to discuss current models of care and to consider alternative models or forms or amalgamations to improve access to Rehab Professionals.

In a recent survey of US citizens, including current patients, fewer than 7% say that they would seek counsel from Rehab as a first course for lower back pain. Some have proposed that while the need for Rehab is increasing, access to care continues be limited. We will explore how Rehab Service Providers can reposition themselves on the forefront of lifestyle medicine and injury prevention. A growing current of practice is to embed Rehab Services into typically non-rehab departments and this session will allow participants to explore new ways for rehab clinicians step out as front-line healthcare providers to serve as primary care providers for certain populations. Participants will come away with new ideas and perspectives on how Rehab may consider to expand our practice and redefine, “what we’ve always done.”
